Jessica Ammirati, LMT, CD(DONA), LCCE

Having gotten her Bachelor of Arts Degree in theater directing, Jessica has pursued theater production since moving to NY in 1996. After years of working in offices to support her theater career, she realized that the office work was unfulfilling. She decided to pursue something that would be more rewarding in order to pay her bills. Because Jessica has always been interested in human anatomy in general and in birth in specific, she first pursued massage therapy. She graduated from The Swedish Institute and obtained her NY Massage License in 2005. After several years of massage work, she still wanted to become a part of the birth world. After "witnessing" the home birth of her upstairs neighbor (you really can hear everything that happens in a New York apartment building), she had her first introduction to what doulas do and she signed up for a DONA Birth Doula workshop given by Debra Pascali-Bonaro.

After completing the workshop, Jessica began attending births in December of 2009. Her first time as a birth doula was such a rewarding and moving experience that she hasn't looked back since. After attending around ten births, Jessica realized she wanted to do more in the birth field and pursued certification to become a Childbirth Educator. She took the Lamaze workshop with Judith Lothian in 2010 and the certification exam in 2011and became certified a month later.

Although Jessica does not currently have any children of her own, she and her husband have two nieces and two nephews ranging in ages from 1 to 18 years old (the pictures on this page are of the youngest nephew). She also has three cousins who have each had babies during the last two years and several close friends with babies under the age of 2. In other words, Jessica is up to her ears in babies and she wouldn't want it any other way!
